2023 Top 10 Social Media Influencers

Social media influencers/creators have become a prominent factor in the digital era, as they “influence” the information that we consume; connecting us with the rest of the world. These online presences have a great social impact on society, constantly shaping trends and opinions. From YouTube vloggers to Instagram fashion icons, these individuals have a voice that carry meaning and continue to inspire millions. For the purpose of this segment, I am only going to review social media influencers within the past year, which I believe has been the one of the best times for influencers to rise because of newer platforms such as TikTok. I am going to measure this list by a number of factors but are not limited to, the number of followers, follower engagement, content posting frequency, and partnerships.

Mr. Beast 

Total Followers: 312M

Earnings: $82M 

Follower Engagement: 9.8%

Jimmy Donaldson, formerly known as Mr. Beast, is YouTube’s #1 creator, known for his personality and philanthropist content. He has gained popularity by making videos around philanthropic challenges that include stunts and challenges that give away money. One of his most notable acts has been his endeavors in keeping the environment alive by pledging to plant over 20 millions trees. This campaign is in partner of the Arbor Day Foundation and is one of the many reasons why many of his followers support his cause. Mr. Beast has been a pinnacle for sponsorships as he has many companies that align with his content, such as gaming and technology brands. These sponsorships allow him to fund his videos and allow for quality content.

Blac Chyna

Earnings: $10M 

Follower Engagement: 1.3%

Blac Chyna, formerly known as Angela Renee White) is OnlyFans #1 creator, as she is estimated to make over $10 million a month. Before her OnlyFans business, she is originally known as a model/exotic dancer and owner of makeup brand “Lashed”. Her popularity began in 2010 when she was used a stunt double for Nicki Minaj in the music video “Monster” by Kanye West and later dated rapper Tyga. With over a total earning of $240M, Blac Chyna has thrown in the white towel and has retired her account.

Kai Cenat has quickly gained attention this past year as Twitch’s number one creator. With his unforgettable energy and personality, his viral livestreams has been a staple for his followers. He originally started on YouTube where he posted videos of doing stunts and reaction videos and then later transitioned to Twitch in 2021. Since then, he has gained an incredible following and has had some of the highest engagement rate with a whopping ~26%. His channel features some of the hottest celebrities right now, including rappers Offset and 21 Savage. Recently, Kai was named 2023 Streamer of the Year and also made a parody to Rush Hour with “Global Pursuit”.

Jake Paul has been everything that a social media influencer entails. Paul first started out his career on Vine and then later transitionined into YouTube when Vine died down. His YouTube consisted of daily vlogs, pranks, and other entertaining content. Following his YouTube, he appeared in other online outlets such as various TV shows and movies and eventually kickstarted his professional boxing career. Currently, Paul is 7-1-0, with 4 knockouts and is looking to fight again in December. Although Jake Paul is involved in multiple controversies, he still has seemed to gain traction with a multitude of his sponsors including Celcius and Betr.

Arguabliy TikTok’s biggest creator, sensation Charli D’Amelio rose to fame over the past 2 years as she posted dancing content and other vlog like videos. Majority of her followers were gained over the COVID-19 period where she captivated her followers with her impressive dance skills. She frequently collaborated with other famous TikTokers which broadened her audience. She was named 2020 Person of the Year and 2021 Kids Choice Awrds for Favorite Female Social Star. Her brand partnerships include Hollister and Dunkin Donuts, which have given her a mass following!

The oldest brother of the Paul brothers, Logan Paul first started out his career on Vine and then moved into the YouTube industry as a vlogger, using his energetic and over the top personality to grow a young fan base. He launched his own merchandise brand called “Maverick”, which helped him solidify himself in the entertainment industry. Paul progressed his career in acting and other entertainment outlets and eventually got into the boxing/WWE carrer. He has foregone the label of “YouTuber” as he says he is “actively listening, changing, and adapting everyday. I am literally the definition of work in progress”. Some even call him our generation’s Greatest Showman

Most known for being a prominent Youtuber as a young icon who focused on style, fashion, and other lifestyle vlogging, her quirky personality led her to fame. She captures her everyday life as a young adult, connecting with her audience as she shows the ups and downs of her life. Her genuinity on the camera shows the realities of what it is like to live in the Digital Age. Chamberlain also helps spread mental health awareness in her candid discussions. Her significant influence has inspired many around the world.

Follower Engagement: 0.85%

One of the best dynamic duo’s Youtube has ever seen, Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal are known for their comedic chemistry in their podcast like show. Their show, “Good Mythical Morning” combines comedy, experiments, and other quirky activities that showcase the friendship between the two. Their family-friendly atmosphere makes them one of the most watched Youtube channels.

Andrew Bachelor, better known as Druski, is a rising comedic talent who gained popularity through his funny and relatable skits. His ability to make witty skits and bring humor to mundane situations is what has helped him claim a spot in the online comedy community. His involvement with the rap community as an online figure has also helped create skis with famous rappers and other individuals in the rap community.

His daily vlogs captivated his viewers as his insights on creativity and entrepreurship led his approach to content creation. He truly has set the bar standard high for vloggers!
